Switch Becomes Longest Running Console without Replacement at Nintendo

The Nintendo Switch has passed 2688 days without a new replacement.

A little longer than the Nintendo Entertainment System’s 2686 days of sale until 1995 when it was discontinued, the Nintendo Switch has now passed 2688 days without being replaced by a new system from the company, according to VGC. Because the Nintendo Switch replacement is still expected in 2025, the original Switch will set a new benchmark for long-lasting consoles.
The developers at Nintendo do not seem to be losing faith in regards to the Switch, as evidenced by the numerous games that will be released on the Nintendo Switch in the upcoming year, such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

According to the latest sales numbers as of March 31st 2024, the Nintendo Switch has sold an astounding 141.32 million consoles since its initial launch in March of 2017.
While gamers eagerly await for the next Switch to release, the Switch will hold the title of longest-running console to date until it does.
