Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign reveal at Gamescom

New gameplay footage has been revealed.

Activision pulled back the curtain on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the opening event of Gamescom last night, teasing fans with a glimpse of its new intense campaign. This was an important campaign for Raven Software to conquer, as they faced considerable pressure after last year’s Modern Warfare 3 campaign left their players unsatisfied.

This time, they’re tasked with following up on the success of Black Ops Cold War, but with a fresh setting that dives deep into the early 1990s, a pivotal time marked by the dominance of the United States.

A standout feature from the reveal was the introduction of the “omnimovement” system, a new gameplay mechanic that promises more fluidity and tactical options for players.

One striking scene from the trailer showed a character throwing a knife while in a prone position behind cover, offering a glimpse into the innovative mechanics Raven Software has introduced.

The mission showcased, titled “Most Wanted,” follows a rogue team as they attempt a high-stakes rescue from a top-secret black site beneath Washington, D.C. What makes Black Ops 6 even more significant is that it will be the first major Call of Duty release since Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The game is set to launch on October 25, 2024, available through both traditional purchases and Game Pass subscriptions, giving players multiple ways to jump into the action.
