Hold onto your popcorn because Funcom dropped a brand new gameplay trailer for their upcoming Dune: Awakening game last night at Gamescom. The five-minute reveal showcases a character’s journey from struggling in the desert to leading an entire army in the hunt for Spice.

After the massive success of Dune: Part Two across cinemas worldwide, this game hopes to give fans all they need while waiting for the third installment to hit theaters. Set on the dangerous planet of Arrakis, players will face scorching deserts, giant sandworms, and power struggles over Spice. 

Funcom, in collaboration with the Herbert Estate and Legendary Entertainment, has crafted an alternate Dune universe where Paul Atreides never existed, allowing players to forge their own destiny.

In Dune: Awakening, players will be able to conquer sandworms, battle for Spice and even ally with noble houses like Atreides or Harkonnen.

Dune: Awakening launches on PC in early 2025, with Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 releases to come later.
