Amid recent controversy, Helldivers 2 CEO empowers the community with voting on the next paid warbond release; fans exult as Sony revises PC account-linking decision, resulting in enormous anticipation for Polar Patriots Warbond on May 9

Helldivers 2 has been the source of heated discussion in recent weeks, as it is at the center of Sony’s controversial decision to have PC players link their accounts to the PlayStation Network. 

In an attempt to apologize to the community, the game’s director, Johan Pilestedt, enabled the community to vote on the next paid Warbond release.

The negative response to recent Helldivers 2 news has surprised the industry, given the game’s popularity in such a short period. Helldivers 2, released in February 2024, is Sony’s seventh most-grossing game of all time.

Polar Patriots aims to enhance the action co-op game with a large number of guns. The sticking problem, according to the production team at Arrowhead Game Studios, is that this is a premium Warbond, which means you’ll have to pay in-game credits to join. This currency can be acquired in-game, but it can also be purchased with real money for $9.99 / £7.99.

Six hours before the poll closed, 73.9% of the 136,622 votes cast were in support of the May 9 release. Some fans have requested a faster Warbond release to ensure the new Helldivers 2 weapon balancing is not overly intense.
