James Earl Jones, revered actor and voice of Star Wars’ Darth Vader, passes away

Widely regarded as one of the greatest actors in stage and screen history, Jones’ illustrious career spanned over six decades, during which he amassed nearly 200 screen credits and became a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.

This morning, the world lost the voice that spanned generations, James Earl Jones, at the age of 93.

His unique presence, both physically and vocally, earned him a place among the few to have achieved the prestigious EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), although his Academy Award was an honorary one.

James Earl Jones’ rich, booming voice made him a household name, most notably for his role as Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. His portrayal of the menacing Sith Lord, beginning in Star Wars (1977), is etched in cinema history. Jones reprised the iconic role in subsequent installments, including The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983), and later in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019), and TV series like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Rebels.
