MultiVersus’ Newest Playable Character Since 2022 Revealed as the Joker

The Joker Makes His MultiVersus Debut After Completing an Interesting ARG Campaign: Following the conclusion of an ARG spanning several days, developer Player First has released a new trailer revealing The Joker’s entry on the MultiVersus lineup.

While we did get some hints about what new fighters might be coming to MultiVersus, Player First Games has remained fairly silent since then, merely teasing the new characters. Excitement over potential new inclusions has been growing ever since, and it threatened to boil over with the publication of a humorous MultiVersus ARG on the game’s official Discord server, which gamers believed was teasing The Joker, a character who has been heavily rumoured for some time.

The wait has been a long time for MultiVersus to return especially following its underwhelming exit last year, but the game’s re-release in March wasn’t as grand as we had hoped. While the new stages look good, and the anticipated gameplay announcements are thrilling, we all wanted to see new characters.

Fortunately, immediately after the final clue of the ARG was solved, Player First released a trailer making the long-awaited addition to the lineup none other than Batman’s notorious nemesis, The Joker, marking the first character introduction since Marvin the Martian in 2022.  Set to release on May 28, MultiVersus fans can anticipate battling with The Joker’s cunning and chaos. Additionally, fans can rejoice as Mark Hamill returns to reprise his iconic role as The Joker, confirmed by Warner Bros. and Player First Games.

Teasers on numerous platforms like Twitter and YouTube offer glimpses of The Joker’s gameplay, providing insights into The Joker’s character class as a Mage, a fitting choice for a figure known for his deceptive prowess. This Included glimpses of The Joker’s abilities, his Ring Out animation, and the assurance of having an announcer voice akin to other characters in the game.

After long-time Batman opposite Kevin Conroy died in 2022, Hamill publicly departed from the role, stating that “Without Batman, there is no punchline.” Conroy voices Batman in Multiversus, so this could be one of Hamill’s last appearances as the Joker.

In the brief trailer, Batman walks by various Multiversus characters as they are defeated one by one, including Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, and Arya Stark. As the trailer ends, The Joker emerges from a cloud of green gas, exclaiming, “Wait’ll they get a load of me!” A full-length trailer is set to be released on Monday, May 13.

Player First Games also revealed new features and motion for MultiVersus, after the announcement of its relaunch. In April, the studio discussed the game’s new dash attack and parry features. These changes attempt to increase the game’s speed, improve defensive recovery times, and give offensive players more options for openers and combo finishers in what the developer promise will be an exciting experience for players eagerly awaiting the game’s debut.
