Why ‘Fortnite: Absolute Doom’ Is My Favorite Season So Far

Captain America’s Shield = Easy Victory Royale

It’s been over a week since Fortnite dropped their Absolute Doom season, and I haven’t been able to put down my controller since. This Marvel themed season brings us new skins, more wild weapons, and a map that’s gotten even crazier than before. The true MVP of this season, however, is Captain America’s shield – the reason I’m finally managing to get back-to-back victory royales.

This shield has been an absolute game-changer when it comes to combat against large groups of players. It’s powerful and super satisfying to use. It blocks ALL damage when utilized, which is crucial when you’re getting sprayed by SMGs or dodging sniper shots. Throwing the shield can kill an enemy with just two throws, which is by far the best aspect of its strength in-game. I’ve got historically bad aim, so the shield’s enemy detection helps immensely too.

What really makes Captain America’s shield my favorite aspect of this new season is the balance it brings to high-intensity moments. It gives you that split-second of breathing room to regroup and strike back without losing momentum, which I honestly feel has been missing from their last season, Wrecked. And let’s be real for a moment – there’s something undeniably cool about wielding a piece of iconic Marvel gear while obliterating every enemy you come across.

The rest of the Absolute Doom season is very strong as well. The new skins are fun, I got the Battle Pass just to unlock War Machine, and the map changes are actually pretty engaging. They’ve added new tight spaces on the map that really force you to think differently about your approach, especially in squad games. The weapons this season are a total hit as well, with some of the new ones feeling like they’ll stick around for a while. It’s really all about finding that perfect loadout—though honestly, as long as I have Cap’s shield, I’m good.

If you’re the type of player who loves mixing up defensive plays with offense, this season might be your new favourite.

I’ve been able to switch between blocking damage and dealing it so fluidly that sometimes I forget I’m playing Fortnite and not an Avengers combat game – which might be why it’s my favourite season Fortnite has launched thus far.
